Content: Introduction to Speleology - Underground karstic systems - Requirements (geotechnical, hydrogeological, climatic, etc.) for the creation and development of underground karstic caves - Stability of caves - Types and classification of caves - Cave climate - Distribution of caves worldwide, but especially in Greece and benefits (scientific, economic, etc.) - Methods of exploration, exploitation, protection and management of caves.

2017-today: "Atmospheric, Geomorphological and Oceanographic Processes in the Geoenvironment"

Teaching of the course 'Atmospheric, Geomorphological and Oceanographic Processes in the Geoenvironment' within the framework of the Master of Science 'Geolgraphy and Environment'.


Content: Special chapters in Physical and Environmental Geography - General circulation of the atmosphere, distributio of pressure and rainfall - Atmospheric long-wave oscillations (NAO, ENSO, NCPI) and the impact on the environment - Biometeorology, calculation of indicators (based on the radiation balance of the human body) and their application in tourism, human health - Physical Processes (terrestrial, atmospheric, marine in the coastal zone) - Coastal Sediments (origin, transport, deposition, pollution) - Analysis of landforms based on their morphogenesis and evolution (synthesis, conclusions). 

2015-today: "Quaternary Geoenvironment-Archaeogeomorphology"

Content: Climatic changes and glacial-interglacial periods - Short-term climatic changes, changes in the Upper Holocene - Sea level changes during Quaternary - Sea level indicators - Paleogeography - Evolution of the relief of the wider area of archaeological sites (fieldtrips) - Geomorphological and environmental changes - Quaternary deposits - Dating of sea level changes - Use of aerial photographs and multi-spectral images for the detection of archaeological sites - Examples of archaeo-geomorphological studies in the Mediterranean.

Content: Mapping of natural hazards and disasters and geological mapping - Geomorphological mapping - Educational visit to the oceanographic center Aegean of HCMR for practicing on oceanographic sampling instruments - Measurements of meteorological variables - Educational visit to HNMS for practicing on meteorological instruments and on forecasting atmospheric products - Visit to a quarry in order to present its operation and the works for its environmental rehabilitation - Surveying of a modern coastline using high precision equipment RTK-GPS - Mapping of indicators of sea level changes - Mapping of geomorphological and environmental changes - Mapping and measurements of geoarchaeological features.

2015-today: "Analysis and management of man-made natural risks and hazards"

Content: Terrestrial gravity movements - Landslide risk assessment - Fires - Soi vulnerability/Erosion risk - River floods/Flood risk - Underwater landslides and Tsunami - Underwater volcanoes - Extreme weather phenomena (tornadoes, storms, heat waves, cold waves, frost and snow, drought) - Coastal erosion (vulnerability indicators) - Risk assessment and dealing with problems having both natural and anthropogenic causes in karst environments.
